Two weeks ago, after years of talking my face off about the benefits of cannabis, my parents finally agreed to try some tinctures. The original plan was to have my mother use cannabis to help assuage the chronic pain and sleeping problems associated with fibromyalgia. My dad has back/leg pain and gets wicked restless leg syndrome. After listening to me tout cannabis to my mother, he figured there was no harm in trying cannabis to increase the quality of his life too.
My mother is having success with the cannabis, but we are still working out a good dosage and strain blend. I will write an article about it when I have sufficient data.
The real happy “accident” here was my dad’s experience. He took a dropper of tincture to help his back pain and went to bed. While he did get some good pain relief, he didn’t have any restless leg issues at all. My mother was ecstatic. He wakes her up a lot with his involuntary movements and she reported that he didn’t have any twitches or kicks at all. Both of them slept better than they had in years.
These results are better than I had hoped for. I just wanted them to feel a little better, but it’s going great. I anticipate that as time goes on and we perfect their preferred dosage/intake method, this story will continue to evolve positively.
I laid it out for them like this: The worst-case scenario is that cannabis is ineffective and you get to check one more thing off your list of options that doesn’t work for you. The best-case scenario is that this harmless, powerful plant can help balance the ills of your body and increase your quality of life. Either it fails and you’re exactly where you are today, or it works and you can begin to feel better.
I’m sharing this story because something has definitely changed in our global outlook on cannabis and I want to keep tossing water against this dam until it breaks. Something so safe and simple can help so many people with a variety of ailments. Viva la revolucion!
